Whether it’s the newest technological item presented in dozens of fashion colors, the infinite number of fonts and letter effects in word processing/printing, or the seemingly endless options that most major  manufacturers (and aftermarket companies) offer to ‘make something theirs feel more like yours’, it’s fairly common knowledge that the discerning customer now almost expects to have certain things available for customizing with any product or service.  In fact, some companies now make their livelihood exclusively dealing with the custom options and add-ons for existing products!

With these ever-present custom options, as well as the fact that many businesses are now becoming purveyors of multi-use goods and services, a modular approach makes quite a bit of sense:  Your time is maximized by only having to add new parts as the customer needs them, not replace the entire product.  This sustains the sometimes tenuous relationship between a new client and salesperson, or further solidifies that bond when it comes time for renewal/upgrades with an existing client.  Also, the product is further enhanced by being able to tailor its characteristics to many different company goal structures, uses, and industries. This utilitarian approach in product design is by far the most interesting and pervasive developments of the last 15 years.  That being said, Custom Pages are SAVO’s addition to this modular line of thinking.  What exactly is a SAVO Custom Page, though?

A Custom Page is a customizable web page within SAVO that is easy enough for anyone to create. Like your  iGoogle or My Yahoo! Page, SAVO Custom Pages are based on a flexible page layout and offer a variety of widget choices. Our customers use these for a variety of reasons, including home pages, departmental landing pages, project management and analytics dashboards.  They offer a  more focused use of time and effort based on your defined goals, and are made up of easily mastered concepts and tools to put your goals into action!

Sound like an intimidating task?  We sure don’t think so!  Custom Pages can help address all of the above mentioned uses, as well as a score of others.  As we like to say:  “This stuff is better than sliced bread!”

With this in mind, I am writing this series of blogs as an attempt to de-mystify the seemingly daunting task of creating the ‘perfect Custom Page’ for your needs.  Some of the topics I will cover in the coming weeks include Basic Custom Page design and layouts, adding pictures and text, Widget types and best uses, setting up both internal and external links, and Gatekeeper functions/options.  I will also offer, hints, tips, and tricks to help you along the way…

Truly, our success is measured one custom page at a time!

All things being equal:  Custom is king.
